Mazda Appoints Jacques Flynn as New Senior Director for Mazda Design America

Mazda has appointed Jacques Flynn as the new senior director for Mazda Design America, marking a significant step in the company's transition towards connected, automated, shared, and electric vehicles. Flynn, who previously served as brand style director, takes over from Yasutake Tsuchida, who left the organization in February 2023.

Flynn brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He rejoined Mazda from EV startup Karma Automotive, where he worked on concept vehicle design. Prior to this, Flynn was the lead exterior designer at Mazda Design America from 2006 to 2017, contributing to the design of the current fourth-generation MX-5 sports car. His extensive background in brand management has been praised by Ryotaro Nishida, vice president of research and development, design and quality assurance at Mazda North American Operations.

Flynn replaces Yasutake Tsuchida, who ran design operations, including next-generation vehicle planning and brand strategy development, at Mazda Design America from March 2021 until his departure. Before Tsuchida, the position was held by Keiji Yamamoto, who left the company in February 2022.

Jacques Flynn's appointment signals Mazda's commitment to driving innovation in the automotive industry. With his proven track record and extensive knowledge of the Mazda brand, Flynn is well-positioned to lead all design-related activities for Mazda in North America as the company continues to evolve in the connected, automated, shared, and electric vehicle era.
