Mercedes-Benz Unveils New VLE Electric MPV with Improved Range and Efficiency

Mercedes-Benz is set to release a new electric MPV next year, the VLE, which is aimed towards the VIP shuttle market, similar to the current V-Class. The VLE will have up to eight seats, designed with families in mind, and is expected to have a range of between 250 to 300 miles.

The VLE's battery size will feature 800-volt technology, which is expected to reduce recharging time substantially compared to the current EQV. During testing, a prototype of the VLE covered a 683-mile route from Stuttgart to Rome with only two short 15-minute charging stops, supporting a practical maximum range estimate close to 250-300 miles for the VLE.

The VLE will be built on the VAN.EA electric platform, designed for optimized efficiency and improved aerodynamics as a mid-size people carrier. The new VLE's battery size is expected to be larger than the current EQV's 90kWh pack, and Mercedes-Benz is considering using a battery of up to 116kWh size, similar to the EQS limo.

Andreas Zygan, head of development for Mercedes-Benz Vans, has commented on the latest tests, stating the VLE's efficiency on the long-distance route. The VLE's efficiency during the tests required only two short charging stops, suggesting improved charging capabilities compared to the current EQV.

The new VLE and its sister VLS twins will launch in 2026, targeting the people-carrier market. The VAN.EA architecture is designed for the next generation of Mercedes vans and people-carriers, and the new VLE's range is a significant improvement over the current EQV's 226-mile range. The new Van Electric Architecture, used by the VLE and VLS, has once again demonstrated its suitability for everyday use on long-distance routes.

In summary, the new Mercedes-Benz VLE electric MPV is expected to have a range of around 250 to over 300 miles, with some speculation suggesting it could exceed 311 miles (500 kilometers). The faster 800-volt charging system is expected to reduce recharging time substantially compared to the EQV. The new VLE and VLS twins will launch in 2026, targeting the people-carrier market.

The new Mercedes-Benz VLE electric MPV, set to launch in 2026, is a significant advancement within the automotive industry, particularly in the realm of electric-vehicles. This vehicle, designed for families and the VIP shuttle market, will boast an impressive range of approximately 250 to over 300 miles, thanks to its 800-volt technology and larger battery pack.

The financial implications of this innovation are noteworthy, as the faster charging system is expected to reduce recharging times, potentially increasing the practicality and efficiency of electric transportation.

In terms of lifestyle, the VLE's extended range and improved aerodynamics make it a suitable choice for both city driving and long-distance travel, blending luxury, comfort, and practicality.

The Technology behind the VLE, such as the VAN.EA electric platform, will not only benefit the VLE but also future generations of Mercedes vans and people-carriers, as it continues to demonstrate its suitability for everyday use on long-distance routes.
