In a recent town hall meeting, Microsoft's Chief Commercial Officer, Judson Althoff, announced that key players like Siemens are also among the list of companies to have adopted Copilot. As the race to integrate AI technology continues,Microsoft plans to invest a whopping $80 billion into AI this year alone.

This latest deal with Barclays is expected to bolster Microsoft's annual revenue, although the exact figures remain undisclosed. A single license for Copilot retails at $30 per month, making this deal a considerable addition to Microsoft's earnings.

Spinning Gold from AI Investments

Microsoft's substantial commitment to AI is evident; the company's AI investments this year are forecast to reach an astounding $80 billion. While these partnerships could bring in tens of millions, they represent a mere fraction of the total spending.

When reached out for comment about the Barclays deal, Microsoft declined to comment. However, the two companies have a history of collaboration, with Microsoft Teams being a key component in their relationship since August 2022.

Hitting the Brakes: The Layoff Bandwagon

Despite Microsoft's continuous growth, the tech giant has recently announced a series of layoffs, with an estimated 6,000 to 7,000 jobs set to be cut, affecting nearly 3% of the company's workforce. This round of layoffs follows another cut of 10,000 jobs in 2020, representing 5% of the workforce.
