More than one in ten senior citizens aged 55 and over engage in mobile gaming
In the first half of 2025, two leading telecommunications companies, Beeline and PJSC "VimpelCom", conducted separate studies on internet activity and mobile connection usage in Dubna, a city in Moscow Oblast with an estimated population of around 70,663.
Beeline's study found that social networks account for 46% of internet sessions in Dubna, while messaging services take up 25%. Interestingly, games are popular among every tenth client over 55 years old, with 79% being men and 21% being women.
The study also revealed that Dubna residents use the internet most actively between 12 and 18 hours, accounting for 33% of the total volume. Video services account for 6% of internet sessions, and music is the most popular form of entertainment among people aged 46 to 55.
Notably, internet traffic usage in Dubna during the first half of 2025 increased by 22% compared to the previous year, highlighting the growing importance of quality internet connectivity for comfortable city life.
PJSC "VimpelCom's" study, conducted from January 1st to June 30th, 2025, revealed that mobile connection usage in Dubna is prevalent. However, the study findings may differ from other sources due to the limited data volume used.
During the birthday celebration of TRK "Mayak", Beeline set up a special zone with activities for residents and guests, including quizzes, mini-golf, ring toss, a constructor, and a lounge area to charge smartphones. Guests at the event were exchanging messages, sharing photos, and videos to capture and share warm moments with loved ones, emphasising the need for a reliable and fast connection during such events.
Despite the lack of specific data on platform popularity or peak usage periods in Dubna, the general technological and IP environment in Russia remains challenging but stable for online activities. For precise and up-to-date internet usage statistics in Dubna, one would typically refer to local telecom providers, regional internet service data, or social media analytics firms that study usage patterns by city. However, such data is currently unavailable from this search.
- The Dubna residents, especially during Beeline's special event at TRK "Mayak," are found to heavily rely on smartphones for exchanging messages, sharing photos, and videos, highlighting the importance of these gadgets as part of modern technology.
- During their study, PJSC "VimpelCom" found that mobile connection usage in Dubna is prevalent, suggesting that smartphones, a significant piece of technology, are widely used for mobile internet activities.
