Nevo's Q05 and C390: Two Exciting New Electric Vehicle Models on the Horizon

Changan Automobile's sub-brand, Nevo, is gearing up for the launch of two new electric vehicles (EVs) – the Q05 compact SUV and the C390 sedan.

The Q05, set to make its official debut around August or September 2025, is Nevo's first global all-electric compact SUV. It boasts a fully electric powertrain with options for lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries sized between approximately 56 kWh to 69 kWh, delivering a CLTC range of about 550 to 660 km on a single charge. The Q05 will offer a 200 kW (272 hp) rear motor with 290 Nm torque, accelerating 0–100 km/h in about 6.2 seconds.

Advanced technology includes lidar sensor integration in some variants and a panoramic sunroof with rain sensor, park-in/park-out assist, built-in dashcam, and four drive modes (PHEV, BEV, REV, iEM). The vehicle also incorporates dynamic braking, rollover mitigation, 360-degree camera, emergency braking, and potentially Huawei's Qiankun ADS SE smart driving assistance system in some versions.

By comparison, the BYD Yuan Up, a competitor in the compact electric SUV market, typically features smaller battery capacities (around 40–50 kWh) and correspondingly shorter ranges (roughly 300–400 km WLTP), with motor outputs generally under 150 kW. The Q05 thus stands out with larger battery options, significantly longer range, more powerful motors, and richer technology packages such as lidar and advanced driver assistance systems.

Regarding dimensions, the Q05 is described as a "compact SUV," likely similar in footprint to the BYD Yuan Up but with a modern design focus and a panoramic sunroof option. However, exact size specifications for either model are not currently available.

Meanwhile, the C390, set to launch in the second half of the year, will be Changan's first sedan based on the SDA (Software-Defined Car) architecture. It will be built on an 800-volt high-voltage electrical platform, offering better energy efficiency and charging speed. Exact specifications for the C390 have not been released, but it is expected to be a technologically advanced and efficient sedan.

In summary, Nevo's Q05 and C390 are shaping up to be exciting additions to the electric vehicle market. The Q05 aims to be a technologically advanced, longer-range, and more powerful compact electric SUV than the BYD Yuan Up, while the C390 will be Changan's first sedan based on the SDA architecture and built on an 800-volt high-voltage electrical platform. Both vehicles are expected to make a significant impact when they hit the market.
