NextCity to Map Solingen Streets with 360° Images and Laser Scan Data
NextCity, a company specialising in urban data collection, will commence operations in Solingen from October 13 to November 10, 2023. The company, using camera vehicles from Cyclomedia Germany GmbH, will capture 360-degree panoramic images and laser scan data to map the city's streets, pedestrian zones, and public facilities. Data protection regulations will be adhered to, ensuring faces and vehicle license plates are unrecognizable.
Cyclomedia Germany GmbH, a member of the Self-Regulation Association of the Information Industry (SRIW), will follow the Geodata Code of Conduct during the operation. The collected data will be used internally by Solingen's social security administration for public tasks. It will provide up-to-date information about the road space and traffic infrastructure, aiding in urban planning and maintenance. The 3D point clouds obtained from laser scanning will enable precise measurements of the road space.
NextCity's data collection in Solingen will help the city's social security administration make informed decisions about urban development and infrastructure management. The company's commitment to data protection ensures that privacy is maintained during the process.
