Nextracker Announces Installing 10 Gigawatts of Solar Trackers in India, a Notable Achievement
Nextracker Expands Operations in India with New R&D Facility in Hyderabad
Nextracker, a global leader in advanced solar technology solutions, has made a significant stride in India's renewable energy sector. The company has inaugurated its largest office outside the United States in Hyderabad, featuring a Center for Solar Excellence (CFSE).
Located at Hyderabad Knowledge City Layout, Raidurgam, Serilingampally Mandal, the new 80,000 sq. ft. office and R&D facility mark an expansion of Nextracker's operations in India. This move aligns with the company's achievement of deploying over 10 gigawatts (GW) of solar trackers in India.
The CFSE is a cutting-edge R&D and testing laboratory, supported by a USD $1 million investment. Its primary focus is to enhance innovation and adaptation of solar tracking technologies suited for the Indian market. This facility strengthens Nextracker’s local presence and ability to serve India’s rapidly growing solar sector.
Rajeev Kashyap, senior vice president and managing director of Nextracker (Middle East, Africa, and India), stated that the Hyderabad expansion reflects the company’s commitment to supporting India’s solar growth. Subrahmanyam Pulipaka, CEO of National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI), praised Nextracker’s investment in advanced manufacturing as an important moment for India’s renewable energy ecosystem.
Nextracker's technology platform optimizes solar power plant performance by following the sun's movement. This feature, coupled with the company's focus on local manufacturing, ensures that 95% of Nextracker's tracker components used in India are manufactured domestically.
In addition to the new R&D facility, Nextracker has 1.5 GW of projects through partnerships with key EPCs across India. The company also has a partnership with ReNew for a 305 MW project in Anantapur. These initiatives further solidify Nextracker's position as a key player in India's solar energy market.
In the last quarter, Nextracker's India portfolio has grown significantly, now totalling over 10 GW, with 1.8 GW added. This expansion underscores Nextracker's commitment to contributing to India's renewable energy capacity expansion and sustainability targets.
