On course for accomplishment - "Nrw's venture 'eezy' is anticipated to thrive."

Looks like the digital transit fare for occasional users in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), "eezy.nrw," has hit a major milestone, surpassing ten million trips since its launch over three and a half years ago. And the good news doesn't stop there - usage continues to escalate, according to the NRW Transport Ministry.

In April alone, around 602,000 trips were tagged via the app across the state, marking a nearly doubling from the previous year. Compared to the previous month, there was a 13.6 percent increase.

The appeal of "eezy.nrw" is straightforward: no more queuing at machines, no more waiting, no more tariff jungle - just check-in through the app and get going. The fare is based on the straight-line distance and is capped, not exceeding €58 per month - the price of the Germany Ticket.

If you're wondering whether it's a fresh twist on the Germany Ticket, well, "eezy.nrw" is like the kid brother to the bigger sibling. In Germany, this fare format is unique to a federal state, with roots dating back to three and a half years ago. It was developed in partnership with transport associations and fare communities, with NRW Transport Ministry's financial backing, to make public transit more accessible for more folks. "Besides the Germany Ticket, 'eezy.nrw' is the second ticket revolution," said NRW Transport Minister Oliver Krischer (Greens).

Fares are automatically calculated via the respective app for seamless use. A starting fee of between €1.49 and €1.84, plus the distance traveled (€0.23 to €0.29 per kilometer) per trip, applies. Once the total fare hits €58 for the month, additional trips in NRW during the same calendar month are gratis.

Hang on a minute, you might ask, where's the tariff jungle? Well, it's history now, folks. 🚀 ausgeschaltet 🌳
