NTT Ltd embraces innovation, anticipates substantial expansion from India.
In a significant move, NTT Ltd has launched its Global Data Centers division in India, led by industry veteran Sharad Sanghi. This expansion is part of NTT's strategy to cater to the growing demand for cloud and data center solutions, particularly in North America where small businesses are experiencing notable growth.
NTT's focus remains on large enterprise clients across Asia and Europe, with a particular emphasis on hybrid cloud and global backbone infrastructure. Notable partnerships include Tata Communications in India.
Sharad Sanghi, CEO of NTT's Global Data Centers and Cloud Infrastructure (India), has introduced Solution Insight, a platform designed to provide holistic visibility and control of an enterprise's ICT infrastructure in a multi-cloud environment. Solution Insight can manage a hybrid portfolio of cloud infrastructure, including service providers like AWS or Microsoft Azure, and offers a single pane of glass into the state, performance, and events of an enterprise's infrastructure, providing controls to respond accordingly.
In line with its commitment to sustainability, NTT is planning to power all its data centers in Maharashtra majorly by solar energy, with the remainder provided by wind energy. The company is optimistic about significant growth in multiple quarters due to a rising data consumption market and is already heavily investing in government projects, having been empanelled for Maharashtra Government and Central Government cloud-based requirements.
NTT's cloud optimization engine helps customers optimize their infrastructure by turning off virtual machines that are not in use, while its cloud comparison engine allows customers to compare costs across multiple clouds. The company is also committed to generating power requirements through renewable energy, having already set up a solar plant in Solapur.
NTT's offerings in India include the SAP certified hosting solution, SimpliHANA, which was acquired through the company's acquisition of Netmagic. Sectors like banking and finance, IT/ITeS, and e-commerce are growth areas for NTT.
Regulatory authorities in India, such as RBI, have set compliance requirements that mandate local storage of personal data of Indian citizens. NTT is seeing growth from global hyperscalers, born-in-the-cloud firms, OTT players, and manufacturing firms upgrading their critical applications to meet these requirements.
Sharad Sanghi predicts growth in various industries moving to the cloud, with Solution Insight playing a crucial role in allocating cloud spend back to applications and departments and monitoring the cost on the go against the budget set by the budget owners. This approach is expected to be rolled out across the country in a phased manner.
