Panasonic Expands Czech Factory to Boost Heat Pump Production by 250%
Panasonic has revealed an expanded and upgraded factory in Pilsen, Czech Republic, with an investment of approximately $373m (€320m). The site will serve as the primary European production and R&D hub for air-to-water heat pump solutions.
The expansion includes a newly constructed building, spanning 102,000sqm, which will increase production capacity by 250%. This growth is set to more than double the annual production capacity to 1.4 million units by 2030, as expected by general manager Tetsumasa Mizuta.
Panasonic is also increasing in-house production of essential components to around 70%. The investment is expected to strengthen the competitiveness of Czech industry and create new skilled jobs, while also boosting European demand for heat pumps.
The factory aims to be carbon neutral by 2050 and zero CO2 emissions by the end of 2025, demonstrating Panasonic's commitment to sustainability.
The upgraded Panasonic Heating and Ventilation Air-Conditioning Czech site in Pilsen will significantly boost production and innovation in air-to-water heat pump solutions. This expansion, along with increased in-house production and sustainability goals, positions Panasonic as a key player in the growing European heat pump market.
