PLAN-B Unveils AI-Driven Resilience Concept for D-A-CH Power Grids

PLAN-B NET ZERO AG has unveiled a resilience concept for the D-A-CH region's power grids. The innovative plan combines Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), green hydrogen, and artificial intelligence (AI) to tackle operational limits and increasing volatility.

The company, along with its subsidiary PLAN-B NET ZERO BESS GmbH, presented this concept at the D-A-CH Hydrogen Symposium. The idea is to create regional energy hubs that integrate photovoltaic generation, battery storage, and electrolyzers. These hubs will be coordinated by AI-driven energy management systems, ensuring seamless operation.

The system leverages BESS for short-term balancing and hydrogen for seasonal energy storage. AI plays a crucial role in real-time balancing of generation, storage, and consumption. This approach provides additional flexibility and control parameters, making the energy system more resilient.

PLAN-B NET ZERO is currently developing a pipeline of stand-alone BESS projects totaling approximately 1.3 GWh. The company is also evaluating the potential coupling of these projects with hydrogen systems. By combining these technologies, PLAN-B NET ZERO aims to strengthen supply security and stabilise power grids in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
