In a significant milestone for Taiwan's renewable energy sector, the offshore substation for the Taipower Phase II (TPC Phase II) project was successfully installed in August 2025. The installation took place approximately 14.7 kilometres west of Lukang in Changhua County, Taiwan.

The TPC Offshore Phase II was one of the eleven projects selected by the Taiwanese government in April 2018. The project's development contract was awarded to Foxwell Energy, an affiliate of Shinfox, in a move aimed at boosting Taiwan's renewable energy capacity.

The offshore substation's topside was transported from Vietnam and placed onto its jacket foundation offshore using the heavy lift vessel SFE Hercules, operated by Shinfox Far East Energy. This marked a significant milestone in the project's development.

The journey to this milestone began earlier in the year, with the installation of the first jacket foundation for the TPC Offshore Phase II in March 2025. The installation of jacket foundations for the project is currently underway.

The launching ceremony for the TPC Phase II offshore substation was held at the PetroVietnam Shipyard construction yard in Vung Tau, Vietnam, marking the beginning of the offshore installation phase of the project.

With the installation of the offshore substation, the TPC Offshore Phase II project moves a step closer to its completion, contributing to Taiwan's goal of transitioning to a greener and more sustainable energy future.

  1. The successful installation of the offshore substation for the TPC Offshore Phase II project is expected to positively impact the renewable energy sector of Taiwan, as well as the industry finance, considering the significant investment in the project.
  2. One of the key technologies involved in the TPC Offshore Phase II project is the heavy lift vessel SFE Hercules, which was used for the offshore installation of the substation topside, demonstrating advancements in energy and technology industries.
