Project Overview of RockX:
**RockX Prepares for Launch of Hybrid Music History Museum**
RockX, a non-profit organisation focused on Rock & Roll history and nurturing new generations of artists, is gearing up for the completion of its physical facility, set to open in approximately 18 months. The organisation is placing a significant emphasis on its digital presence, with a strong focus on enhancing the user experience (UX) for both web and mobile consumers, as well as providing efficient administrative tools.
**UX Design for Web and Mobile Consumers**
The digital platform for RockX will offer a seamless, user-centered experience, integrating historical music content, digital archives, and event management. Key features include:
1. User Interface (UI): Content will be organised intuitively, allowing easy navigation through exhibits, digital archives, and events. Multimedia elements will be used to enhance storytelling, and the UI will be responsive, adapting to various devices and screen sizes.
2. Accessibility: The platform will feature text-to-speech functionality, high contrast mode, and other accessibility measures to cater to users with disabilities.
3. Feedback Mechanisms: User feedback will be encouraged to improve the platform over time.
4. Personalization: Recommendations will be offered based on user interests and previous interactions.
5. Digital Music Archive: A robust search function will allow users to find specific music pieces, artists, or genres efficiently. High-quality audio listening options, including streaming and downloading, will be provided.
6. Event Centre: An event calendar will list upcoming events, with detailed information and ticket purchasing options.
**Technical Requirements**
The platform will be compatible with both web and mobile devices, boasting robust security measures, scalability, and data analytics tools to help administrators understand user behaviour and make informed decisions.
**B2E (Admin) UX**
Administrative tools will be user-friendly and efficient, with a focus on content management, event management, user management, and integration with external systems. Key features include:
1. Content Management System (CMS): An intuitive CMS will allow administrators to manage, update, and create content, with role-based access control.
2. Event Management: Administrators will be able to schedule events, manage event details, and track ticket sales, with reporting and analytics tools.
3. User Management: Administrators will manage user profiles, including subscription status and access permissions, and communicate with users via newsletters and notifications.
4. Integration with External Systems: Secure payment gateways for ticket sales and donations, as well as social media integration, will be provided.
**The RockX Mobile App**
The RockX mobile app will offer a digital guide experience within the museum, guiding visitors based on their personal plans, explaining exhibits as they move through the galleries, and providing augmented reality (AR) supplemental content for each exhibit. The app's design will be informed by the museum's floor plan, serving as a digital docent to guide the user from point to point.
RockX is funded by the Silicon Valley venture capital community and will not have a physical gift shop. However, items for purchase will be marketed in the context of exhibits or events. Ongoing financial support comes from donors, endowment earnings, entry fees, concert tickets, class fees, and subscriptions to the mailing list.
The learning goals for the project are identical to those of the MatchDog project, with the second project requiring the design of a new UX from scratch, without preliminary design work. The RockX project involves designing both remote and in-person digital artifacts for a hybrid music history museum, digital music archive, and event centre.
- As part of its digital strategy, RockX has prioritized user experience (UX) design for both web and mobile consumers, aiming to create a seamless and user-centered platform that includes an efficient information architecture for navigating exhibits, digital archives, and events.
- In addition to UX design, RockX's digital platform will encompass UI design elements, ensuring intuitive organization of content, responsive design across devices, and the integration of multimedia elements to enhance the user experience.
- To cater to all users, the platform will incorporate accessibility features like text-to-speech functionality and high contrast mode, ensuring a positive user experience for individuals with various access needs.
- RockX recognizes the importance of technology in its digital presence and is implementing scalable solutions with robust security measures and data analytics tools to enhance its understanding of user behavior and make informed decisions.
