Purchasers now have the opportunity to acquire Neil Armstrong's priced 18k Gold Omega Speedmaster.

In an exciting turn of events, the 18k gold Omega Speedmaster worn by Neil Armstrong, the first man to step foot on the Moon, was sold at an auction today. The watch, a part of a limited "Tribute to Astronauts" edition, fetched a staggering price of $2,125,000.

The auction, held by RR Auctions, marked the first time this particular gold Omega Speedmaster had been seen at auction. The watch, number 17 of 1,014, is engraved with Armstrong's name, his mission tenure, and a commemorative statement. It should be noted, however, that the watch did not venture into space.

The gold Speedmaster Professional was made from 18K gold and given to significant members of the Space Program. Each watch had the name of the recipient engraved on the back and was numbered from 3 to 28 according to who had been with NASA the longest. Armstrong's watch is in very good cosmetic condition, with scuffs to the bezel and scratches to the caseback, but it appears to have never been polished or modified.

The watch is equipped with Lemania caliber 861 automatic movement and comes with an 18k gold bracelet. The watch was presented at a gala in Houston on November 25, 1969.

Half of the money from the sale will be donated to charities selected by Neil's son, Mark Armstrong. For those interested in learning more about the sale, detailed information can be found on RR Auctions' website or by contacting them directly.

Additional insights into the watch, its history, and the sale process can be found in news articles on websites like File 770 and other news outlets. Omega's official website, forums, and communities dedicated to watch enthusiasts might also provide discussions or articles about this specific watch and its auction. Platforms that report on notable auctions, such as those involving historical items or luxury collectibles, may also offer additional context or insights into the sale of Armstrong’s Speedmaster.

The style of Armstrong's 18k gold Omega Speedmaster watched, part of the "Tribute to Astronauts" edition, aligns with the lifestyle of those associated with the Space Program. Incorporating technology and precision, this watch shares a connection with modern sports timepieces.
