Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses Gen 3 to Launch with Improved Features

The much-anticipated Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses Gen 3 are set to be released by the end of 2025, according to recent reports. The new generation of smart glasses will be unveiled at Meta Connect in mid-September 2025 [1][4].

The Gen 3 will offer two main styles: Aperol, a sunglasses model with a new frame design, and Bellini, an optical version featuring traditional eyeglasses frames suitable for prescription lenses [3][4][5]. The previous Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses have ranged from $299 to $349, depending on style and lenses, with prescription lenses adding extra cost [1]. However, the pricing for the Gen 3 models has not been confirmed yet.

A significant improvement in the Gen 3 is the better battery, which will allow the new AI features to run for hours, rather than the current 30-minute limit on Gen 2 models [4][5]. Enhanced AI capabilities such as real-time object recognition and scene understanding are also expected [4].

Meta is focusing on improving the smart glasses experience by branching out into different styles and boosting functionality and battery life [1][5]. The next-generation Meta AI assistant for Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses Gen 3 will be able to run for hours at a time.

In addition to the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses, Meta is rumoured to be launching another pair of smart glasses called Meta Hypernova. The Hypernova is expected to ship with an sEMG bracelet for effortless control of the glasses using hand gestures. The Hypernova may have thicker frames compared to existing Ray-Ban Smart Glasses, resembling the frames of Meta Orion. The launch date and price tag for Meta Hypernova are not known, but it's rumoured to debut late this year or early 2026 with a price tag above the current Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses [2].

The sEMG bracelet for Meta Hypernova also provides haptic feedback, simulating physical interaction with virtual objects. It allows for smartphone-like gestures without the need to touch floating virtual objects as on a VR headset [2].

Meta currently owns 3% of EssilorLuxottica as of July 9, 2025 [3].
