Rebranding Announcement: Aleph.im Transforms to Aleph Cloud, Launches $1 Million Web3 Accelerator Program

CEO of Aleph Cloud, Jonathan Schemoul, talks about the company's rebrand, the launch of a $1 million startup accelerator, and their efforts to create a decentralized substitute for AWS, focusing on Web3 and AI applications.

Rebranding Announcement: Aleph.im Transforms to Aleph Cloud, Launches $1 Million Web3 Accelerator Program

Hey there! Aleph Cloud, a trailblazer in decentralized infrastructure, has ditched its old name, Aleph.im, and stepped into the limelight as a full-fledged, all-in-one cloud solution provider.

The rebrand signifies Aleph Cloud's expansion into a comprehensive, developer-friendly provider of decentralized computing, storage, virtual machines, and GPU resources designed to power the next generation of Web3 and AI applications.

With a whopping $1 million startup accelerator program in tow, Aleph Cloud aims to help Web3 builders and startups transition away from giants like AWS and Google Cloud, dominating much of the current blockchain infrastructure.

The program offers heaps of compute credits, storage, and technical support across blockchain ecosystems like Ethereum, Base, Solana, BSC, and Avalanche.

"The majority of blockchain apps still rely on centralized cloud services, which put decentralization at risk," Jon Schemoul, Aleph Cloud's CEO, said in a statement. "Our rebrand and accelerator program are designed to help teams move off AWS and toward infrastructure that's censorship-resistant, performant, and easy to use."

From Indexers to a Full Cloud Platform

Originally famous for Solana indexers, Aleph.im has remodeled itself into a full-stack cloud platform, demanding a rebrand to Aleph Cloud. According to Schemoul, the catchy new name depicts the project's mission - delivering a cohesive, developer-friendly, and decentralized cloud experience.

"We wanted a universal name that would resonate better with our customers and users," Schemoul said during a Q&A with our site. "Aleph Cloud now runs on over 700 global nodes across 12 countries, offering an intuitive SaaS interface for developers to deploy decentralized apps without needing DevOps expertise."

Lending a Decentralized Safety Net to Startups

Aleph Cloud's freshly launched accelerator program intends to give early-stage Web3 and AI developers access to infrastructure credits, confidential virtual machines, web hosting, and more, without the hassle of upfront costs.

Schemoul told our site that small startups and independent developers "need strong resources to develop their projects." To foster a thriving ecosystem, Aleph Cloud will consider companies with a real product or even a proof of concept to gain access to cloud services for free, up to a certain threshold.

Rather than using treasury funds directly, the program dispenses access via non-transferable Soulbound tokens, granting free use of Aleph Cloud's infrastructure for selected participants.

Proving Its Edge Over Competitors

The move comes amid mounting concerns about centralization risks in blockchain. Over 50% of Ethereum nodes, for instance, are hosted on centralized services like AWS, making entire networks vulnerable to outages. Aleph Cloud offers an alternative by enabling decentralized node hosting for Ethereum, Bitcoin, and more.

In the first four months of 2025 alone, Aleph Cloud has issued over 200,000 Soulbound tokens and supported 26 blockchain networks. With projects like Ubisoft's Web3 games, HyperSwap, and Anima's Sybil-resistance tooling already leveraging the platform, Aleph Cloud promises censorship-resistance and reliability during centralized cloud outages.

"Whether it's DeFi applications like HyperSwap, Sybil-resistance tools like Anima, or use cases in the gaming industry with partners such as Ubisoft, we're ready to support them," Schemoul also said during the interview.

Competing on Flexibility and Scale

Aleph Cloud's strategy is in line with a broader trend toward decentralized physical infrastructure. Competing against industry juggernauts like Filecoin and Akash, Aleph Cloud needs to differentiate itself in a rapidly growing market.

Schemoul stated that Aleph's edge lies in its design offering compute, storage, hosting, and confidential virtual machines in a unified interface. Developers can tackle everything from data storage to AI agents, all thanks to Aleph Cloud's all-in-one solution.

"We want to make it simple and accessible for everyone to use decentralized infrastructure," Schemoul said. "Be itETH, Solana, or even emerging blockchains like Sonic and Eclipse, Aleph Cloud is here to support you."

Emphasizing GDPR Compliance

Aleph Cloud prioritizes data privacy and protection, ensuring robust security measures. Compliant with GDPR, Aleph operates chain-agnostic deployments, reducing the probability of ad targeting, resale, or any activity against users' interests.

During an interview, Schemoul explained that recent measures were necessary to maintain a user-friendly environment: "We had to remove a streaming platform from a node we operated after receiving a copyright notice from the content's owner. Due to our decentralized design, the content was simply migrated to another node. This instance demonstrates how we can uphold censorship resistance while adhering to legal standards."
