Recording Academy Launches Emergency Guide for Music Pros

The Recording Academy's Producers & Engineers Wing has published a crucial resource, 'Studio Emergency Preparation Recommendations', to assist recording professionals in preparing for and responding to natural disasters and emergencies. Co-authored by Anna Frick and Candice Yang, with input from industry experts, this guide offers practical strategies for business continuity, emergency communication, and remote work, drawing from FEMA guidelines and real-world experiences.

The concept for this resource was initiated by mastering engineer Anna Frick, who had to evacuate her studio during the 2021 Colorado wildfires. The guide includes a Quick Reference Guide Worksheet, a one-sheet tip list, and detailed instructions on risk assessment, hazard-specific planning, and insurance considerations. It also provides information on post-disaster assistance programs such as MusiCares, FEMA aid, and SBA disaster relief loans.

A panel discussion titled 'Studio Emergency Preparation' will be held at the AES Show 2025 in Long Beach on October 24, 1:15pm-2:15pm PDT, further highlighting the importance of this topic.

Maureen Droney, VP of the Recording Academy Producers & Engineers Wing, encourages everyone in the recording and music community to review and customize the guide regularly. The resource aims to help professionals prepare for natural disasters, emergencies, and business interruptions, ensuring the continuity and safety of their studios and work.
