Refashioned BMW M5 Sportily Dons Ferrari-Inspired Hue
The automotive world is abuzz with anticipation as BMW gears up to unveil the much-awaited M5 LCI, slated for production in the second half of 2027. In a unique twist, the M5 LCI will be presented in the rare, striking shade of Rosso Corsa Uni, a colour synonymous with Ferrari and with roots dating back to the 1920s when it was used by Maserati, Lancia, and Alfa Romeo for their race cars.
Currently, the BMW Welt is showcasing the M5 in this exclusive colour, giving enthusiasts a tantalising glimpse of what's to come. Interestingly, the i4 M60 recently replaced the i4 M50 in Rosso Corsa Uni, indicating a growing trend for this bold red hue in BMW's M-series lineup.
The Individual configurator, BMW's customisation platform, allows customers to choose the "G90" in all available shades, including Rosso Corsa Uni. This suggests that the M5 LCI is not the only model to sport this vibrant colour. Occasionally, special M5s can be seen on BMW's social media channels, further fuelling excitement for the upcoming release.
Spy shots of the M5's mid-cycle facelift, or M5 LCI, have been circulating for a few months, hinting at the Neue Klasse design cues the new model is expected to adopt. Alongside the M5 LCI, the long-roof G99 model will share the same look.
The M4 has also turned heads with its Prancing Horse-inspired livery, implied to be in Rosso Corsa. Global sales of the M5 are roughly 50:50 between sedan and Touring body styles, with Americans showing a preference for the Touring.
It's worth noting that the regular 5 Series (G60) is expected to get iDrive X with its 2026 facelift, while the range-topping M5 will receive this next-gen infotainment system a year later. The iX3, debuting next week, will be BMW's first production car to feature iDrive X.
However, specific information about the other novel colours planned for the BMW M5 LCI available from mid-year 2027 was not found in the search results. The M5 LCI is not expected to launch until two years from now, but with the intrigue surrounding Rosso Corsa Uni, it's safe to say that the wait will be worth it.
