In a recent update, Android users can now easily check their headphones and earbuds' battery levels with the introduction of color-coded rings around each earbud and the case icon. This redesign, part of version 25.30.31 of Google Play services, aims to make battery information more visually intuitive and aligns with the ring design introduced in Android 15 QPR2 on Pixel devices.

The new design includes small icons atop the rings indicating charging status, such as a lightning bolt for charging, and battery percentages are shown just below each ring. A significant addition is the visibility of the case charging status with a green ring that fills proportionally when charging, a feature not available before.

This update, which began rolling out over the past few days prior to August 10, 2025, is available for all Android devices, not just Pixel phones. The traditional compact notification layout presenting all percentages in a single line remains unchanged for consistency.

This overhaul makes checking headphone and earbud battery information quicker and visually clearer for Android users. With the color-coded rings and charging status icons, users can easily identify the battery levels and charging status of their devices at a glance.

In addition to the battery notifications update, Android is also getting a new 'System services' settings page to view and update background Google apps. Google is fixing 'Failed' Play system update on Android 16, and a redesign of Android's QR code scanner has been rolled out. The Find Hub rebrand has come to Android Settings, further streamlining the user experience.
