Fraport, the operator of Frankfurt Airport, has announced its first quarter results for 2025, showcasing revenue growth despite one-time effects in the previous year. The consolidated result for the full year is expected to remain stable to slightly lower, depending on further framework conditions.
The increased personnel costs, due to wage increases and staff expansion at Frankfurt Airport, led to a decrease in Fraport's operating and consolidated results. The operating result (EBITDA) for the first quarter of 2025 was €177.5 million, a 16.5% decrease from the previous year. The consolidated revenue for the same period decreased slightly by 2.4% to €868.5 million.
However, the decline in Fraport's results is primarily due to one-time effects in the previous year, including COVID-19 compensations, an extra leap day, and an early Easter travel rush. Excluding these one-off effects, the decrease in Fraport's results is largely due to the increased personnel costs, which rose by €44.6 million.
Despite these challenges, Fraport's management remains optimistic about the rest of the year. The number of passengers handled at Fraport's home base in Frankfurt for the first quarter of 2025 was around 12.4 million, a decrease of 0.9% compared to the previous year. However, airports in Greece, Lima, and Antalya saw increases in passenger traffic for Fraport, becoming growth drivers for the group.
Fraport's adjusted revenue for the first quarter of 2025 increased by 6.3% to €811.3 million. The board of directors is maintaining its full-year projection, expecting up to 64 million passengers at the Frankfurt location and a moderate increase in EBITDA.

Fraport's consolidated result for the first quarter of 2025 was -€26.4 million, a significant drop from the €12.7 million positive result in the same period last year. Despite this, the company's first quarter results demonstrate a resilience that bodes well for the future.
