Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro overtakes AirPods 4 in two crucial aspects

The Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 FE have made their debut, offering a balance of modern design, reliable active noise cancellation (ANC), and essential smart features at a more affordable price point.

Key Features and Improvements

The Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 FE come equipped with a single 11mm dynamic driver, designed to deliver crisper highs and deeper bass. This is a step up from previous FE models, but falls short of the dual driver system found in the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro.

The Buds 3 FE also boast enhanced ANC, reducing ambient audio by up to 32dB, and a longer battery life compared to the Apple AirPods. With ANC off, you can enjoy up to 8.5 hours of playback, and with ANC on, you get 6 hours. The charging case provides an additional 30 hours of power, giving you a total of 39.5 hours of listening time.

Smart Features and Design

The Buds 3 FE incorporate Samsung's AI technology and offer live in-ear translation via the Samsung Interpreter app, a feature not yet available on Apple AirPods. They also support pinch and swipe gestures, similar to the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, and come in two colours: black and grey.

The Buds 3 FE have been designed with six microphones for voice calling with AI audio enhancement, ensuring clear and crisp conversations, even in noisy environments. The microphones are repositioned in the stem for improved voice pickup.

Comparison with Galaxy Buds 3 Pro

While the Galaxy Buds 3 FE share many similarities with the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, they differ in several key areas. The Buds 3 Pro feature a dual driver system (10.5mm dynamic + 6.5mm planar magnetic) for richer, more detailed sound. They also offer adaptive ANC that responds to ambient sound, special awareness features like Siren and Alarm detection, and decorative Blade Lights to indicate charging status.

The Buds 3 Pro also support wireless charging, unlike the Buds 3 FE which only offer USB-C charging. The Buds 3 Pro are priced higher, retailing at $250, while the Buds 3 FE are more affordable at $150.

Availability and Price

The Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 FE will be available from 4 September 2025, priced at $150. They have improved water and dust resistance with an IP54 rating, making them more durable for everyday use.

In summary, the Galaxy Buds 3 FE offer good sound, improved battery life, and essential smart features at a more affordable price, while the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro provide richer audio fidelity, more advanced noise cancellation, premium extras, and wireless charging for users seeking a top-tier experience.
