Samsung's MicroLED TVs might hit retail stores by the upcoming year, here's what we've gathered so far.
Samsung is gearing up to revolutionise the TV market with the launch of its new, more affordable MicroLED TV models. While the official unveiling is yet to be confirmed, it's rumoured that we might see these new models as early as CES 2026.
The upcoming MicroLED TVs from Samsung are expected to be not only cheaper but also easier to install, marking a significant shift towards making premium screen technology more accessible. The first expected launch is a 4K version, which could come in smaller sizes, signalling a move towards more affordable options compared to earlier, larger, premium models.
However, despite the anticipated launch timing and size scaling, MicroLED TVs are likely to remain expensive compared to OLED or other technologies for now. While they may become "easier to install" due to smaller sizes, broad affordability is still pending.
Samsung showcased a 98-inch 8K RGB MicroLED TV at CES 2025 and is considering revealing a 110-inch model at IFA 2025 in September, with plans to launch later this year. The company is also planning to bring MicroLED TVs into the mainstream market, competing with other tech giants like Hisense and Konka, who are also working on popularising MicroLED technology.
Hisense has already revealed a 136-inch MicroLED TV, indicating a growing interest in this technology. Last year, Samsung expanded its MicroLED TV lineup to include smaller sizes, but the smallest MicroLED TV currently available from Samsung is the 89-inch MS1, which requires professional mounting and installation.
Samsung's new MicroLED TV models may use Mini-LEDs, which could potentially offer a wider variety and cheaper options for the premium screen technology. The new models are also expected to feature mounts and VESA wall configurations for easier installation.
MicroLED TVs offer the best picture performance in the market, performing just as good, if not better than OLEDs, without the risk of burn-in. Samsung has been the biggest player in the MicroLED TV realm, and its new models, like the one debuted at CES 2025, are expected to maintain this reputation.
Despite the anticipated affordability, it's important to note that the price of MicroLED TVs is still expected to remain high, so consumers should not replace their OLED TVs yet. The official sale of these new MicroLED TVs from Samsung could happen as early as CES 2026, although this is unconfirmed.
MicroLED TVs utilise self-emitting pixels that create colour and backlighting on their own, using inorganic material. This technology has been in development for several years, and while it's still in its early stages, companies like Samsung are working hard to make it more accessible to consumers.
