SEA & ACUA Ocean Team Up to Enhance Anti-Submarine Warfare with USVs

SEA and ACUA Ocean have joined forces to enhance anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) operations. The partnership aims to deploy advanced sonar systems on long-endurance uncrewed surface vessels (USVs).

The collaboration, marked by a Memorandum of Understanding, sees SEA contributing acoustic sensor expertise and technical support for integration. ACUA Ocean, meanwhile, brings its experience in ocean-going unmanned platforms to the table. The planned capability is modular, scalable, and cost-effective, enabling persistent wide-area sensing and undersea situational awareness.

Richard Flitton, Managing Director of SEA, believes that uncrewed vessels hosting KraitSense payloads will bring complementary capabilities to ASW and ISR operations. Neil Tinmouth, Chief Executive Officer at ACUA Ocean, agrees, stating that the combined solution will complement and extend the operational benefits of existing platforms. The agreement outlines a framework to co-develop mission concepts, identify opportunities, and showcase the combined technology to international customers.

SEA and ACUA Ocean's partnership seeks to strengthen naval forces' ability to detect and track submarines while reducing reliance on large crewed assets. The modular, scalable, and cost-effective combined technology will enable persistent wide-area sensing and undersea situational awareness.
