Seequent Partners with UNESCO for World Engineering Day 2025

Seequent, The Bentley Subsurface Company, has announced its official partnership for the UNESCO World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development (WED) 2025. This global event, focused on achieving sustainable development goals as set by the United Nations, will celebrate the contributions of the engineering profession and aim to raise awareness of the importance of engineering in our sustainable future.

The WED campaign, jointly operated by UNESCO and the World Federation for Engineering Organisations (WFEO), will span a 12-month period. The theme for WED 2025 is "Shaping our sustainable future through engineering". Seequent's insights and expertise will form an integral part of this campaign, as the company's technology is at the forefront of supporting efforts in managing ground risk, reducing emissions, sourcing critical minerals sustainably, increasing renewable energy use, and managing groundwater and environmental risk.

The partnership between Seequent and UNESCO signifies mutual support and collaboration. The event, which is not the first of its kind, celebrates the engineering profession's role in sustainable development. WED 2025 will reach an estimated global audience of over 100 million individuals, with the WFEO spanning 100 countries and representing more than 30 million engineers.

The United Nations is involved in organizing WED 2025, and the Federation of African Engineering Organisations (FAEO) has also registered as an official partner. The FAEO's headquarters are located in Africa, highlighting the global reach and significance of the event.

Seequent, a global leader in subsurface software, operates in 150 countries while maintaining headquarters in New Zealand. The company's partnership for WED 2025 underscores its commitment to sustainable development and its belief in the power of engineering to shape a better future for all.

The WED 2025 launch, campaign, and related content will go live from 4 March 2025 at www.worldengineeringday.net. This day dedicated to celebrating the engineering profession's role in sustainable development is expected to provide a springboard for various sectors to raise awareness of the importance of engineering in achieving the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Join Seequent and UNESCO in celebrating the engineering profession's role in shaping our sustainable future at WED 2025. Together, we can create a better, more sustainable world.
