SI Imaging Services Secures Major Deal for SpaceEye-T Satellite
SI Imaging Services has inked a substantial deal, leasing its Earth observation satellite SpaceEye-T to an unnamed European customer service. The agreement, worth a 'double-digit million euros', is a significant milestone for SpaceEye-T and underscores the rising popularity of the Satellite-as-a-Service model.
SpaceEye-T, launched in March via a SpaceX Transporter-13 rideshare, provides high-resolution imaging with a native resolution of 25 centimeters per pixel. The satellite has now secured its first major customer service, marking a notable entry into the global space industry trend for SI Imaging Services.
The Satellite-as-a-Service model, which allows customer services to rent satellite capacity instead of purchasing the asset outright, is gaining traction worldwide. SI Imaging Services CEO Moongyu Kim credits this to benefits in data accessibility and security, with demand surging rapidly.
The European customer service, whose identity remains confidential, has committed to renting SpaceEye-T's capacity. This contract signifies a substantial step for SpaceEye-T and SI Imaging Services in the competitive Earth observation market. The Satellite-as-a-Service model continues to gain momentum, offering customer services flexibility and cost-effectiveness.
