Sony Unveils Compact 4K Camera and 4K Monitors at IBC2024
Sony is set to unveil new products at IBC2024, including a compact 4K camera and two 16.5-inch 4K monitors, both featuring advanced display technologies for live production and critical image viewing.
The HDC-P50A, Sony's latest camera, is a multi-purpose model with a 2/3-inch 3-chip 4K image sensor and a global shutter function. It shares the same sensor and prism as the HDC-5500 and HDC-3500 cameras, ensuring easy integration into existing systems. The camera supports both SDI outputs and IP transmission using SMPTE ST 2110, catering to the industry's shift towards IP. It also comes with an optional variable ND filter unit HKC-VND50 for enhanced versatility.
Sony is introducing two 16.5-inch 4K TRIMASTER HX monitors, the BVM-HX1710 and BVM-HX1710N. Both feature True Black Reproduction, High Dynamic Range, and a Peak Luminance of 3,000 Nits. The BVM-HX1710N offers SMPTE 2110 IP support, providing Networked Live compatibility and seamless integration with Sony's ecosystem. These monitors are planned to be available in mid-2025.
The HDC-P50A and a prototype of the BVM-HX1710N monitor will be on display at IBC2024 in Amsterdam from September 13 to 16, giving professionals a firsthand look at Sony's latest offerings for live production and critical image viewing.
