Sony's latest PS5 system update introduces a long-awaited DualSense feature - here are the specifics.

Sony has taken a significant step forward in gaming flexibility with its latest PS5 system update beta. The update, set for a global release in the coming months, introduces a groundbreaking feature that allows the DualSense controller to pair simultaneously with up to four different devices, such as PS5 consoles, PCs, smartphones, and tablets.

This new feature, currently available only to participants enrolled in the PS5 system update beta, enables users to register up to four devices and switch between them seamlessly without needing to re-pair each time. To do this, users simply hold the PS button plus one of the four face buttons (X, O, Square, Triangle) on the DualSense controller. Each face button corresponds to one of the four paired devices. Pressing and holding the PS button with a specific face button switches the connection to that registered device.

The initial pairing process involves holding the PS button and a face button, then adding the controller as a Bluetooth device on the target device. This approach makes switching between devices quick and user-controlled directly from the controller interface.

The new feature applies not only to the standard DualSense controller but also to the DualSense Edge model. Users who are selected to participate in the beta will receive an email invitation tomorrow (July 24) to download the update.

With this enhanced flexibility, gamers can enjoy gaming more freely across multiple devices. For instance, users can connect the DualSense controller to a smartphone for Remote Play from the PS5 or to a PC to play PC games. It's important to note that beta features might not ever get a public release or might see major changes.

It's also worth mentioning that the DualSense controller can currently be paired with gaming PCs, iPads, and other devices, but this new feature will make the process easier. Sony plans to release the update globally in the coming months, bringing this innovative multi-device gaming experience to a wider audience.

However, users will need to wait for the official release of the update to enjoy the new multiple device pairing feature. It is important to remember that while this technology represents a significant leap forward in gaming convenience, it is still in the beta stage and may undergo further refinement before its official release.
