South Korean Purchase Secures Winnings for Enapter AG - Deal Includes Two AEM Multicore Units, Boasting 2 Megawatts of Electrolysis Capacity

In a significant development for the green hydrogen sector, German energy technology company Enapter AG has secured an order from South Korea for the delivery of two AEM electrolysers with a total capacity of 2 megawatts. This marks Enapter's involvement in a 12.5 MW hydrogen pilot project on Jeju Island, supported by the South Korean Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The project, aimed at investigating and comparing hydrogen production with different electrolysis technologies, makes Enapter the only European technology provider involved in this ambitious endeavour. The South Korean government is providing 62 billion South Korean won (approximately 43.3 million US dollars) for the demonstration project.

Enapter, renowned for manufacturing highly efficient hydrogen generators, or electrolysers, will supply two AEM Multicore electrolysers for the project. These systems, capable of producing around 450 kg of green hydrogen per day, are expected to produce more than 1,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year.

YEST Co. Ltd., a Korea-based company with extensive experience in semiconductors and displays, will handle the installation of the two AEM Multicore electrolysers, having been an integration partner of Enapter since 2021. Jang Dong-bok, CEO of YEST, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating that Enapter is a strong partner and they aim to further improve the competitiveness of green hydrogen and leverage synergies.

Sebastian-Justus Schmidt, CEO of Enapter, highlighted Korea's leading position in the field of green hydrogen, emphasising that this order underscores Enapter's commitment to contributing to the global transition towards renewable energy. Enapter AG, based in Germany with a production site in Italy, is the only technology supplier from Germany or Europe among the five companies selected for the project.

The 12.5 MW hydrogen pilot project on Jeju Island is a significant step forward in the adoption of green hydrogen technology. With Enapter's AEM Multicore electrolysers contributing to the project, the potential for cost-effective, mass-produced, plug-and-play hydrogen generators is being realised, paving the way for a sustainable future.
