Syrup's Total Value Locked reaches $2.58 billion - Yet, these factors are hindering further growth

In a significant development for the DeFi sector, Maple Finance's native token, SYRUP, has witnessed a substantial liquidity surge over the past few days. According to data from Nansen, smart money investors accumulated a staggering $1.56 million worth of SYRUP in a single day, bringing their total weekly purchases to $5.6 million.

This surge in buying activity has propelled SYRUP's price by 3.34% in the past 24 hours, pushing its monthly gains slightly above 40%. The Open Interest Weighted Funding Rate for SYRUP had dropped sharply into negative territory, indicating a potential corrective phase before resuming its upward movement.

The TVL for Maple Finance reached an all-time high of $2.588 billion on the 5th of July, as investors deposited more SYRUP into the protocol. This surge represents a 26% increase in TVL over the past month, signalling a significant inflow of capital into the protocol.

The liquidity inflow is attributed to several key factors. Institutional adoption and Real World Asset (RWA) lending activity have been on the rise, with growth in these areas typically driving demand and liquidity for SYRUP. The rising popularity and integration of SyrupUSDC, a yield-generating stablecoin within the Maple ecosystem, also boosts demand for SYRUP.

Retail investors have also been active participants in the accumulation, alongside smart money participants. The growth of SyrupUSDC's market cap, which surged to over $886 million within three months of launch, offering attractive yields, has created more utility and demand for SYRUP tokens linked to liquidity pools.

Furthermore, the expansion of institutional-grade lending products and integration has supported liquidity growth. Maple Finance is extending its liquidity pools for both institutional and retail investors, broadening access and participation, which contributes to the liquidity surge.

Despite this bullish sentiment, it's important to note that not all segments of the market support a rally for Maple Finance [SYRUP]. Retail derivative traders continue to oppose a potential rally, betting on a price decline for Maple Finance [SYRUP]. If SYRUP fails to rally at this support and breaks down, it would invalidate the current bullish structure and potentially drop to $0.5269.

As SYRUP heads towards the bottom of the chart, it aligns with an existing support at $0.5344. A move into this level implies the asset could break out from the pattern and gain 6%, pushing the price to $0.5689. If the Open Interest Weighted Funding Rate continues to fall, SYRUP could enter a slight corrective phase before resuming its upward movement.
