Tech Giants Race to Patch Zero-Days as Microsoft Hikes Office 365 Prices

In a week filled with security updates and price changes, tech giants have been busy addressing vulnerabilities and introducing new features. Microsoft and Apple patched zero-day exploits, while Adobe fixed 45 vulnerabilities. Meanwhile, Microsoft Office 365 users saw a significant price increase and the introduction of Copilot AI.

Microsoft issued security updates for 56 vulnerabilities, including two zero-days (CVE-2025-21391 and CVE-2025-21377). The latter allows privilege elevation on Windows systems by stealing NTLMv2 hashes with minimal user interaction. Another zero-day (CVE-2025-21391) in Windows Storage could enable file deletion on targeted systems. Satnam Narang from Tenable noted a history of elevation of privilege vulnerabilities in the same Windows component.

Adobe fixed 45 vulnerabilities across multiple products, including InDesign, Commerce, and Photoshop Elements. A buffer overflow vulnerability (CVE-2025-21418) is being actively exploited and should be prioritized for patching.

Apple patched a zero-day vulnerability (CVE-2025-24200) in iOS 18.3.1. Microsoft released the security updates for the zero-day vulnerability CVE-2025-21391 in Windows Storage before the exploitation became known.

Google Chrome and Chromium-based browsers, including Microsoft Edge, will receive updates. Microsoft increased prices for Office 365 license renewals and new subscribers by 30%. The company also started bundling Copilot AI with Microsoft Office 365, now rebranded as Microsoft 365 Copilot.

Adam Barnett from Rapid7 warned about potential full SYSTEM access from arbitrary file deletion.

With the recent security updates, users are urged to prioritize patching their systems to protect against active exploits. The price increase for Microsoft Office 365 may impact users, but the introduction of Copilot AI could bring new productivity features. Tech companies continue to address vulnerabilities promptly, ensuring the security and functionality of their products.
