Tesla Introduces Monthly Extended Warranty Subscription for Select Models

Tesla has made a significant move in the automotive industry by offering extended warranties for its vehicles on a monthly subscription basis. This change, which was previously only available as a one-time purchase, is now available in the U.S. and Canada.

The expanded warranty covers specific propulsion-related parts for the S3XY lineup (Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y). These components include the Front and Rear Halfshaft Assemblies, the Radiator, the Cooling Fan Assembly, the Front, Right, and Left Electrical Harness Assemblies, the Ancillary Harness Assembly, the High Voltage System Controller, the Supermanifold Assembly, and the High Voltage Fast Charge Contactors Assembly. The Power Conversion System (PCS) Assembly is also included in the coverage for the S3XY lineup.

The new warranty provides 7 years or 70,000 miles (110,000 km) of coverage on certain expensive components, offering peace of mind to Tesla owners. However, it's important to note that this new warranty does not apply to the Cybertruck.

The Cybertruck, with its unique 800V/48V electrical architecture, does not meet stringent European safety regulations, especially regarding its ultrahard stainless steel body with sharp edges that violate EU pedestrian protection rules. Until a recent trade agreement between the EU and the US potentially eases these restrictions, the Cybertruck remains not homologated for Europe in its current form.

This new extended warranty comes in addition to Tesla's basic vehicle warranty (4 years or 50,000 miles) and its existing 8-year battery and drive unit coverage. The introduction of this new warranty indicates growing confidence in Tesla's vehicle reliability.

The news of the new extended warranty was reported by Not a Tesla App. For more information about the specifics of the extended warranty and how to subscribe, we recommend reaching out to Tesla directly.
