Tesla extends invitations for a two-day test drive to selected customers, although such opportunities may be scarce in Canada

In an exciting development, Tesla has announced its first-ever extended multi-day demo drive offer for all its models in the United States and Canada. However, the rollout of this program in Canada has been met with some challenges.

Tesla is currently sending out invitations for a 48-hour test drive program, but there seems to be a disconnect between Tesla HQ and local showrooms in Canada. While some locations in British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec are offering the program, many others are not. In fact, as of now, the 48-hour demo drive program is not available on the Canadian demo drive website.

Customers in Canada who are interested in this opportunity may need to visit multiple showrooms to secure a 48-hour demo drive, as some locations are not offering the program. Managers at some Tesla locations in Canada are offering overnight demo drives instead of the 48-hour demo drive due to a policy that they cannot "give away cars for 2 days."

In contrast, in the United States, Tesla occasionally allows longer test drives, including extended demo drives such as 24- or 48-hour test drives. However, even in the U.S., these longer test drives are not a guaranteed or widely standard offering.

The key difference between Canada and the U.S. regarding Tesla demo drives is that Tesla has been more restrictive or less public about demo drive durations beyond typical short test drives in Canada. There is no public information about a Canada-wide 48-hour demo drive program. Tesla's Canadian presence is growing but still more limited compared to the U.S., especially regarding sales and demo programs.

Recent developments such as Elon Musk teasing a major Tesla demo event by the end of 2025 do not specifically mention demo drive programs or extended test drives. Tesla’s primary promotional focus tends to be on vehicle features, software capabilities (such as Full Self-Driving demos), or new vehicle launches rather than extended customer test drives.

As of August 2025, Tesla does not publicly offer a 48-hour demo drive program in Canada similar to any widespread or officially announced availability of extended demo drives.

Customers in the U.S. can book a 48-hour demo drive directly from the Tesla company's website, which is not currently an option on the Canadian demo drive website. Hopefully, the Canadian demo drive website will soon include the option for customers to book a 48-hour demo drive, helping to clear up availability across the country.

  1. Although Tesla offers a 48-hour test drive program in the United States, it is not publicly available in Canada, causing confusion for customers.
  2. In contrast to the automotive industry's standard practice of offering extended test drives like 48-hour demo drives, Tesla in Canada seems to be less open about such programs.
  3. In an attempt to catch up with the extensive test drive opportunities provided in the U.S., Tesla's Canadian presence may need to improve its demonstration drive programs, especially regarding extended test drives like demo drives.
