Tesla Model Y Performance Launches Worldwide, Starting at $57,490 in US

Tesla's Model Y Performance has hit markets worldwide, with prices starting at $57,490 in the US and £61,925 in the UK. Top Gear questions the value of the premium for the Tesla Model Y Performance, despite its enhanced features.

The new Tesla Model Y Performance variant boasts more power, speed, and subtle chassis tweaks. It comes with a 16-inch infotainment system, carbon interior trim, and sport seats. The suspension features reinforced parts and adaptive bits, earning praise from Top Gear as 'class-leading'.

Tesla could have added features like simulated gear shifts or rev noises to enhance the driving experience. However, the standard Tesla Model Y Long Range is still impressively quick, accelerating from 0-62 mph in under five seconds, and has a slightly longer range. The Tesla Model Y Performance variant's official prices for optional extras like the Arachnid 2.0 wheels and carbon fiber spoiler are not yet available in Germany.

The Tesla Model Y Performance offers improved performance and features, but comes at a significant premium - £10,000 more than the Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD in the UK, and $8,500 more in the US. Top Gear suggests buyers might not find the upgrade worth the cost. Despite this, the Tesla Model Y Performance delivers excellent performance and is rolling out across global markets.
