Tesla's Cybertruck qualifies for a tax credit of $7,500 in the United States.

In a recent announcement, Tesla has confirmed that the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and Dual Motor variants of the Cybertruck are now eligible for the full US$7,500 federal tax credit for qualifying customers in the United States. This change marks a shift in the production of the Cybertruck, as Tesla appears to be transitioning to the 2025 model year.

The base price for the AWD Cybertruck has been adjusted to $72,490 for those who qualify, thanks to a $1,000 referral discount offered by Tesla in the US. The starting price for the RWD variant remains unchanged, but now also qualifies for the tax credit.

Despite not updating their website to reflect the Cybertruck's eligibility for the tax credit, customers in the US who purchase the Cybertruck with batteries composed of eligible materials and assembled in North America can now claim the full credit.

However, the news isn't all positive for customers outside the US. Tesla has increased pricing for the Foundation Series Cybertruck in Canada by up to 11.5%. Customers in Canada now pay extra for wheels and tires, Full Self-Driving, and Premium Connectivity subscription for the Foundation Series Cybertruck. The base price for the AWD Cybertruck in Canada is now C$114,990, while the RWD variant starts at C$142,990.

In a bid to attract new customers, Tesla offers a referral link for new buyers to receive three months of Full Self-Driving (FSD) with their purchase. Tesla has also opened orders for the regular Cybertruck in Canada and Mexico.

It's important to note that due to Tesla selling 2024 model year Cybertrucks, no customers were able to receive the tax credit until now. This change in production year and eligibility for the tax credit could signal a new phase in the rollout of the highly anticipated Cybertruck.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Tesla Cybertruck and its availability.
