Tesla Unveils Revamped Model Y in China, Kicking Off Global Rollout

The revamped Tesla Model Y, codenamed "Juniper," was officially launched in China on January 10, 2025, marking the beginning of a global rollout. Deliveries of the refreshed SUV are planned to start in March 2025.

The updated Model Y boasts a sleeker look, with a lower hood on the front trunk and a full-width light bar for daytime running and tail lights at the rear. The interior features a rear passenger touchscreen, powered rear seats, and ambient lighting. The Long Range version's range has been increased from 428 to 447 miles (688 to 719 km). Notably, the 2025 refresh retains the traditional turn signal stalk due to customer feedback.

The Model Y "Juniper" will be available in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico starting March 2025, with a starting price near $60,000 for a special "Launch Series" edition that includes a 320-mile range and Full Self-Driving (Supervised) technology.

Further expansions for 2025 include a 3-row, 7-seater Model Y, reintroduced in June 2025. A new 6-seat Model Y L variant, specifically for the Chinese market, is expected to launch in Q3 2025 or early autumn 2025. This model features a longer wheelbase and premium finishes, aimed at families.

The Model Y Performance version, which was not initially launched with the refresh, has been spotted testing in California. It's expected to return before the end of 2025 with the "Juniper" design, featuring typical performance cues such as 20-inch Plaid wheels and red brake calipers.

Tesla also plans an affordable Model Y variant as a lowered-cost option without some premium features, expected sometime in Q4 2025. This move aims to increase volume and market reach.

In summary, the global rollout began in China in early 2025, expanded to North America by March 2025, and will see additional variants (6-seater, 7-seater, Performance, affordable version) arrive through late 2025.
