Rumors and leaks suggest that Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 Pro will come with a higher starting price and a change in storage options.
According to a Chinese leakster on Weibo named Instant Digital, the iPhone 17 Pro is predicted to start at around $1,049, reflecting a $50 hike linked to higher component and tariff costs. This price increase aligns with the price jump seen in the iPhone 14 Pro Max and the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
In addition to the price increase, it appears that Apple may have fewer storage options for the iPhone 17 Pro. The entry-level storage capacity for the iPhone 17 Pro will likely start at 256GB, moving away from the previous 128GB base storage seen in the iPhone 16 Pro. This storage change aligns with prior patterns where Apple removed the 128GB option at higher-end Pro Max models, pushing starting storage to 256GB or more.
By increasing the price by $50 but doubling the memory, Apple is offering customers extra storage at half the current price of making that jump. However, it is not clear if Apple plans to increase the top storage capacity to more than 1TB for the iPhone 17 Pro.
