The recently introduced Snooze Duration option in the iPhone's iOS 26 update is causing concern due to its potential risks, and this guide shows you how to experiment with it personally.

Customising Snooze Durations for Alarms in iOS 26

Apple's latest update, iOS 26, introduces a new feature that allows users to customise the snooze duration for individual alarms in the Clock app. This feature replaces the previous fixed 9-minute snooze duration, giving users more control over their morning routine.

To take advantage of this new functionality, follow these simple steps:

  1. Open the Clock app on your iPhone and navigate to the Alarm tab.
  2. Tap on an existing alarm to edit it or create a new alarm by tapping the button.
  3. Ensure the Snooze toggle is turned on.
  4. Tap the number next to Snooze Duration.
  5. Choose your preferred snooze time from 1 to 15 minutes.
  6. Confirm by tapping the orange check mark.

It's important to note that each alarm's snooze duration must be changed individually, so you can customise shorter snooze times on weekdays and longer ones on weekends, for example. Unfortunately, there are no universal settings for snooze duration changes at the moment.

Before iOS 26, users could only use third-party alarm apps or a second separate alarm to customise their snooze duration. With this update, the default Clock app now allows for customisation, making it more convenient for users.

Remember, you cannot adjust a Snooze duration without the Snooze toggle being turned on. To cancel a new Snooze duration selection, tap the cross in the top left corner. To confirm a new Snooze duration, tap the tick in the top right corner.

Keep in mind that this update gives users more control over their snooze duration, potentially leading to increased risk of being late or sleep-deprived. Use this feature wisely!
