Gear up, mech enthusiasts! The beloved Gundam Battle game from the PlayStation Vita era, specifically Gundam Seed Battle Destiny, is getting a much-anticipated remaster this May. Don't worry, your favorite Mobile Suits are preserved and improved, this time running on Unreal Engine and developed by B.B. Studio instead of the original developer, Artdink.
Back in 2012, Gundam Seed Battle Destiny marked Artdink's venture into the PlayStation Vita's world of Gundam Battle. Its graphic overhaul was a significant achievement for the small studio at the time. This title also paved the way for gems like Macross Delta Scramble on Vita and several PS3 Macross games, including Macross 30.
The remastered version offers updated maps, graphics, and smoother gameplay with new lock-on modes and controller settings. Over 100 mobile suits receive a high-resolution texture makeover, giving them a fresher, more detailed look.
It's unusual that Artdink is not a part of this remaster, but rest assured it'll still deliver an enjoyable experience. While I'd love to see our older Gundam Battle games, like the PSP and even Nintendo 3DS versions, receive the remaster treatment, development costs might pose a challenge.
Surprisingly, this Gundam Seed Battle Destiny Remastered is skipping PlayStation and instead, it's coming to PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch. You can pre-order it on Steam, with a release date set for May 22.
