In a market saturated with large smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge stands out for its slim and light design. Despite its diminutive dimensions, the device offers surprising endurance, albeit at a premium.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, when compared to other large smartphones, offers a delightful contrast in weight and thickness, making it a pleasure to hold. This compact design, however, requires its functionality to be maintained despite the radical slimming. In our tests, we aimed to determine if the device lived up to this expectation.
First impressions of the device are overwhelmingly positive. The Esprit thinness and lightweight nature, complemented by a slim waist, make the device comfortable to hold, suitable for various types of attire. The matte titanium frame provides a sense of stability, although some slight twisting may occur with manipulation; however, it remains sturdy and resistant to breakage. Both the display and back are protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 and Gorilla Glass Victus 2, ensuring durability against dust and water with IP68 certification.
A Focus on Two Excellent Cameras
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge delivers a impressive 6.7-inch screen, on par with other devices in the series. Presenting bright, natural colors and strong contrasts, the display provides a high resolution of QHD+ and an adaptive refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hertz.
Users must be willing to relinquish some camera options. The camera island protrudes noticeably from the slender housing, and the Edge includes only a main and ultra-wide-angle camera. A telephoto lens was inconvenient to accommodate due to space limitations.
Despite the compromise, Samsung addresses this issue by incorporating the 200-megapixel camera from the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This results in exceptional images, both day and night, and high-quality videos. The phone's high pixel count enables it to replace the telephoto camera up to a certain extent, up to 4x according to our testing experience.
The ultra-wide-angle camera offers outstanding, sharp photos with 12 MP, much like the regular Galaxy S25. The front camera, too, is exceptional at 12 MP.
Commendable Performance
In terms of internal components, Samsung has succeeded in combing powerful hardware with the S25 Edge, using Qualcomm's top chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, and 12 GB of RAM. Although the vapor chamber is slightly smaller due to space constraints, the device functions practically as powerfully as its counterparts, with the exception of sustained peak performance during graphically demanding games.
The test that most intrigued us was the battery life evaluation. The Galaxy S25 Edge's 3,900mAh battery, though smaller than those found in similar large smartphones, held up longer than anticipated.
During our tests, the device performed admirably, lasting from morning to night without needing to be recharged, even retaining a small reserve of approximately 25 percent often. Intensive usage, such as extensive photography or videography, necessitated occasional charging, typically taking no more than 15 minutes when using a powerful power supply. Additionally, wireless charging is an option, increasing the possibilities for short charging intervals.
A Question of Value
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge represents a compromise that some users may be willing to embrace. Its advantages compared to the standard S25 or S25 Plus model are more favorable than expected, offering a large but extremely thin and light device that impresses in comparison to other heavy smartphones. However, the decision to purchase depends on individual preferences, as prices are significantly higher: the 256 GB version sells for around 1250 euros, while the 512 GB variant costs approximately 1370 euros.

The S25 Plus, featuring a 4,900mAh battery, provides longer battery life, lasting about 16 hours and 55 minutes[5]. The S25 Ultra, the largest battery of the series at 5,000mAh, offers the longest battery life, lasting around 17 hours and 15 minutes[5].

Aside from its sleek design, the device's impressive battery life, particularly for moderate usage, puts it on par with other leading smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and even outperforming the S25 Ultra under certain circumstances.
