Third phase commences for hub initiatives
Baden-Württemberg, a leading German state in digital innovation, is expanding its network of thematic de:hubs. The new hubs, located in Karlsruhe, Mannheim/Ludwigshafen, and Stuttgart, will focus on promoting growth, education, research, and innovation in various sectors.
These de:hubs are thematic input providers for the regional Digital Hubs and benefit from improved access to regional businesses, research institutions, and other stakeholders. They are part of the nationwide de:hub network, which also includes the regional Digital Hubs and European Digital Innovation Hubs in the country.
The de:hubs will focus on applied artificial intelligence, digital chemistry and health, and future industries. They aim to strengthen national and international networking for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups in their respective thematic focus areas.
The funding for these three de:hubs comes from the Double Budget 2025/2026, totalling approximately 1.2 million euros over two years. Each de:hub will receive a maximum of 400,000 euros. The recipients must contribute at least 50% in co-financing.
The Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Katherina Reiche, is responsible for funding the three de:hubs in Baden-Württemberg. This move sends a strong signal that Baden-Württemberg wants to continue to be present in the nationwide de:hub network.
The de:hubs were first awarded in spring 2017 by the Federal Ministry of Economics, and the current network comprises 25 hubs, covering additional key industries and regions since September 2024. The de:hubs serve as thematic lighthouses with international reach, promoted within the initiative "Economy digital Baden-Württemberg".
The de:hubs primarily cater to SMEs and start-ups, helping them to open up new business opportunities through national and international partnerships. The contact details for the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism include a Press Office and a Citizen's Representative.
These new de:hubs are a testament to Baden-Württemberg's commitment to fostering digital innovation and supporting its businesses in the global market.
