Thousands upon thousands of video surveillance cameras secure the region of Kuban.

In a recent development, the Krasnodar Krai Administration has announced that the second stage of the APS "Safe City" project is underway. This stage aims to open single operational response centers in the remaining 42 municipalities by 2027, with the ultimate goal of centralising and improving the efficiency of emergency and safety services across the region.

The announcement was made at an interdepartmental meeting chaired by Krasnodar Krai Minister of Civil Defense and Emergencies, Sergei Shutikov. Representatives from MegaFon company, regional security services, and 44 regional municipalities participated in the meeting via video conferencing.

Since the beginning of the year, more than 14,000 incidents have been recorded using cameras. Over 14,000 cameras are currently in operation in Kuban, including 1,770 with face and state registration number recognition functions in 17 cities and districts. However, no new information about the number of incidents recorded using cameras or the number of cameras currently in operation was provided.

Last year, more than 3,000 cameras were transferred by the ministry, and it is planned to purchase 3,126 cameras this year. No new information about the number of cameras to be purchased this year was provided.

The first stage of building the regional platform of the APS "Safe City" has been completed, and three single operational response centers in Krasnodar and Sochi, as well as the regional video surveillance platform with video analytics functions, have been launched. Work is underway to transition the regional 'Safe City' platform to special software from a domestic manufacturer. Unfortunately, no further details about the software manufacturer for the transition of the regional 'Safe City' platform were mentioned.

The "Safe City" hardware-software complex allows integrating existing population security systems into a single window, improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the regional safety measures. The Krasnodar Krai Administration provided the information through its press service.

Despite the lack of specific details on the activities, milestones, or technologies involved in this second stage, the APS "Safe City" plan and its phases in Krasnodar Krai continue to progress, with the ultimate goal of enhancing the safety and security of the region's residents. For more detailed or technical specifics on the second stage of the APS "Safe City" project, such as its scope, funding, technological infrastructure, or expected benefits, additional sources or official regional government releases would be required.

  1. The second stage of the APS "Safe City" project involves the implementation of technology, as single operational response centers will be equipped with video analytics functions to centralize and improve emergency services across the region.
  2. The transition of the regional 'Safe City' platform to special software from a domestic manufacturer is part of the ongoing technology integration in the APS "Safe City" project, aiming to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of safety measures in Krasnodar Krai.
