Stargate, it seems, serves as an extension of Sam Altman's influential AI enterprise, as hinted by confidential sources to the Financial Times.

Title: Unraveling the Rumors Around Trump's Alleged $500 Billion AI Project, 'Stargate', and OpenAI's Involvement

Announcing Project Stargate, a transformative AI initiative, the White House made headlines this week. According to the CEOs of Oracle, OpenAI, and SoftBank, who visited D.C., the project aims to revolutionize America's technological capabilities, promising a $500 billion investment. Supporters argue it will 're-industrialize' the U.S. and bolster national security. However, a recent Financial Times report challenges these claims, implying that the project is essentially a development deal for OpenAI.

Sources claim hefty investment promises are yet to be secured, and once completed, Stargate will exclusively serve OpenAI. Formed with funding from OpenAI, SoftBank, Oracle, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Arm, among others, Stargate's goal is to establish AI infrastructure across the U.S. to secure global AI leadership.

Notably, the project's rhetoric cites benefits for the entire world. Yet, anonymous sources reportedly told FT that Stargate is primarily for OpenAI's sake, with details unresolved. Lacking sufficient funding and government aid, the project's backers have been unable to fulfill their promises.

As for Elon Musk, a recent tweet mirrors these sentiments, claiming Stargate lacks the required capital and deriding the project. Additional reporting revealed Stargate, stated to create 500,000 jobs, has only committed to employing 57.

The project's links to an autocratic Middle Eastern regime have also sparked concern. The United Arab Emirates, through its AI fund MGX, will reportedly commit $7 billion. This ties in with Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed al Nahyan, the UAE's intelligence chief, meeting top American tech executives for AI discussions.

Intriguingly, Altman's departure from OpenAI in 2023 was attributed to his fundraising efforts with the Middle East for an AI-focused chip company. Criticism around these talks still persists, but the reason for Altman's ousting remains undisclosed.

The future of Project Stargate relies heavily on securing the promised $500 billion investment, as currently, sufficient funding has not been obtained. Once completed, Stargate's advanced artificial intelligence technology is expected to serve primarily as an exclusive platform for OpenAI.
