Unveiling the Mystery of Wordle #1275

I almost had this in three attempts, and I'll explain how soon. CRIMINAL wasn't a great opener (it doesn't pay!), leaving me with 463 potential solutions. SHOUT brought that down to just 39, manageable but not great. I was tempted to guess FUNKY, but hesitated. There are so many words that use the letter 'L' you see. So against my instinct, I guessed FULLY. When the 'L' boxes turned grey, I had to go with my initial guess, and voila! FUNKY was the Wordle! Funky fresh!

Competitive Wordle ScoreTotal disappointment today. Zero for guessing in four and tied with the Bot. Oh well!

Today's Wordle's Origins

The word "funky" dates back to the early 17th century, derived from the French word "funqiue," meaning "smoke" or "musty smell," referring to a strong or unpleasant odor. In African American slang of the early 20th century, it evolved to describe something earthy or deeply rooted in authenticity, particularly in music, such as jazz or funk, eventually taking on its modern meaning of something stylish, unconventional, or cool.*
