It's Thursday, so not only do we have today's Wordle challenge, but I'll also be providing the answer for yesterday's Wordle Wednesday puzzle. I dreamed up a festive brain teaser for you all to tackle as we approach the holiday season.

Here's the puzzle:

Santa's Chimney Dilemma: Holiday Heroes Edition

Santa has to deliver presents to five themed-for-Christmas houses, each belonging to a legendary holiday character. Each house has a differently-sized chimney, and each present fits only into certain chimneys due to its specific size.

The Houses:

  1. Frosty's Snowy Fortress
  2. The Grinch's Grotto
  3. Rudolph's Pads
  4. Scrooge's Manor
  5. Krampus's Castle

The Chimney Sizes (one per house):

  • Extremely Wide
  • Spacious
  • Medium
  • Narrow
  • Tiny

The Gift Sizes:

  • Huge
  • Generous
  • Medium
  • Small
  • Tiny

Solving Tips:

  1. The Huge gift cannot fit in the Medium or smaller chimneys.
  2. The Grinch's chimney is wider than Frosty's but narrower than Scrooge's.
  3. The Small gift fits perfectly in Frosty's chimney.
  4. The Tiny gift can only fit in Krampus's chimney.
  5. Rudolph's chimney is Medium-sized.
  6. The Generous gift cannot fit in Krampus's chimney.
  7. Scrooge has the widest chimney.

Objective:

Determine which chimney size belongs to each character and match the appropriate present to their house.

The answer:

  • Scrooge has the Extremely Wide Chimney and the Huge present.
  • The Grinch has the Spacious Chimney and the Generous present.
  • Rudolph has the Medium-sized Chimney and the Medium present.
  • Frosty has the Narrow Chimney and the Small present.
  • Krampus has the Tiny Chimney and the Tiny present.

Wordle Analysis

I utilize Wordle Bot each day to aid me in the guessing game analysis. You can analyze your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

I won the jackpot today! Starting with the word SCARE, I was overjoyed by the presence of common letters and the agreement of two yellow squares, even though I was hoping for a 3-guess game. My second guess, STRAY, was the very first phrase that came to mind, winning me the Wordle in just two attempts! Huzzah!

Competitive Wordle Score

I earn 2 points for solving in two attempts and use an extra point for beating Wordle Bot, which took three tries today. That's a total of 3 points for me today!

How to Play Competitive Wordle

Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points, and missing the Wordle is -3 points.

If you beat your rival, you gain 1 point. If you tie, you earn 0 points. Conversely, if you lose to your rival, you lose -1 point. Keep track of your daily or cumulative point total.

Fridays double the points, positive or negative.

Play daily or maintain a running tally and enjoy!
