If this sounds familiar, it's perhaps from another riddle in The Hobbit, during Bilbo and Gollum's little contest in the goblin caves. The solution? Darkness.

PLUME is related to plumbers but not grammatically speaking. Since I had plumbers over for repairs, I tried to think of a related word for my initial Wordle guess. PLUME was the best I came up with, but it was not effective, leaving me with a staggering 542 alternatives. CHAIR reduced my possibilities to 85, and after my third try—TENET—I still had four. NOSEY diminished it to one, and fortunately, I solved today's Wordle with ENDOW on guess #5.
Competitive Wordle Rating
I got negative 1 point for completing it in five and negative 1 more point for losing to the Bot who managed to solve it in three. -2 points for me! Ouch!

Today's Wordle Etymology
The word "endow" derives from the Middle Englishendowen, which is derived from the Anglo-Frenchendower. This term itself traces back to the Late Latindotare, meaning "to provide with a dowry" or "to furnish," which originates from the Latin word dos (dowry or gift). Over time, its meaning expanded to include providing or equipping someone with qualities, abilities, or resources.
