TVCA Boosts Traffic Management with Yunex Traffic's Fusion
The CiTTi Awards, honouring advancements in intelligent transport systems, is set for 26 November 2024 in London. Nominations are currently open. Meanwhile, Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA) has chosen Yunex Traffic's Fusion 360 for regional traffic management, aiming to boost journey times and reduce congestion and emissions.
Fusion 360, described as the next generation adaptive control solution by Andrea Reacroft of TVCA, continuously monitors traffic using modern data sources. It develops accurate indicators of congestion and disruption to inform policy-driven management decisions. The software optimises traffic signal timings to prioritise active travel modes and cleaner air outcomes, ensuring easy operation and reconfiguration for traffic managers.
Fusion 360 aims to enhance network efficiency and deliver various traffic management benefits. These include automated incident detection and alerts, improved bus service reliability, and reduced delays, congestion, and emissions. Wilke Reints, Managing Director of Yunex Traffic in the UK, noted that TVCA is the first combined authority to select Fusion 360 due to its ability to enhance network performance without extensive infrastructure schemes.
TVCA, under the leadership of Chair Ben Houchen, has adopted Yunex Traffic's Fusion 360 to manage traffic across the region. The system's continuous monitoring and adaptive control capabilities are expected to improve journey times, reduce congestion, and enhance air quality, benefiting all transport modes.
