Xpeng's P7 Sets New Record in 24-Hour Electric Vehicle Endurance Test

In a groundbreaking achievement, Xpeng's P7 electric sedan has outperformed Xiaomi's YU7 in a 24-hour endurance test, setting a new distance record for electric vehicles. The P7 covered an impressive 3,961 kilometers, surpassing the previous record of 3,944 km set by the YU7.

The endurance test took place in Changchun, Jilin, in northeastern China between 9:02 am on August 14 and 9:02 am on August 15. The P7 was put through its paces, driving continuously at a speed of 210 kilometers per hour with multiple rapid charging stops.

The test was a comprehensive challenge to the vehicle's power, charging, durability, and reliability, equivalent to participating in a marathon at sprint speed. Lei Jun, founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi, described the test as such, congratulating Xpeng on the record-breaking performance.

The P7's impressive feat was not without its challenges. The test was postponed by one day due to heavy rain that caused flooding on the track. Despite the delay, the P7 demonstrated its robustness, verifying the electric sedan's powerful mechanical capabilities and endurance.

He Xiaopeng, chairman and CEO of Xpeng, stated that the test verifies the robustness of the P7's overall core system capabilities. This achievement is of great significance to Xpeng, as it highlights the company's commitment to innovation and pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle performance.

The new P7 is targeting the RMB 300,000 market but the starting price will be lower. Pre-sales for the P7 will officially launch later this month, following its debut on August 6.

Lei Jun invited more manufacturers to participate in the 24-hour endurance challenge for pure electric vehicles. This invitation extends the competitive spirit, encouraging other manufacturers to strive for similar feats in battery and drivetrain efficiency.

The P7's record-breaking performance reflects the intense innovation among Chinese EV manufacturers, pushing sustained performance benchmarks. While luxury and performance-focused manufacturers like Mercedes-AMG have set higher 24-hour records, the direct competition between Xpeng and Xiaomi underscores the cutting edge of Chinese EV technology.
