Avatr Technology Opens State-of-the-Art Production Plant

Avatr Technology, in partnership with Changan Automobile, Huawei, China Unicom, and other industry partners, has unveiled a new vehicle production plant in Chongqing. The facility, boasting an annual production capacity of up to 280,000 vehicles, is a testament to the integration of cutting-edge technology in the automotive industry.

The production line, capable of assembling one car every 60 seconds, is a marvel of automation. It features 5G network connectivity, AI analytics, and data tracking infrastructure for real-time monitoring and traceability throughout manufacturing. The plant is designed for flexible production, supporting over 1,200 individual order variations and multiple vehicle types with different powertrains on the same line.

Quality control is ensured through 369 monitoring points, 26 quality checkpoints, and AI-assisted visual inspection systems across 73 workstations. Each assembly station is equipped with smart torque wrenches that detect incorrect torque in real time and generate automated alerts, enhancing precision and safety.

The factory leverages more than 40 advanced technologies, including digital twin systems that optimize production processes from design to delivery. The unified 5G network enables full transparency and end-to-end digitalization of operations, linking every tool and component in the production chain while allowing for real-time data transmission.

This "smart digital factory" integrates 5G, AI, automation, and flexible manufacturing to achieve high throughput and personalized vehicle configurations at scale. It marks a significant advancement in automotive production technology for Avatr and its partners.

In 2024, Avatr sold over 73,000 vehicles, more than double its 2023 total. The company, which began its international rollout in 2024, entering 25 countries and regions, aims to reach 800,000 annual vehicle sales globally by 2030. As part of its broader expansion plan, Avatr will soon introduce a flagship SUV developed jointly with Huawei.

The Chongqing factory is just one piece of Avatr's ambitious growth strategy. Separately, Changan Automobile opened an automated factory in Chongqing in October 2024. Avatr hosted a livestream walkthrough of the plant, showcasing automated body welding, real-time quality inspection, and final vehicle assembly. The plant is designed for flexible production with connected systems throughout the manufacturing process.
