Unified platform emerging for IT professionals in Almaty's digital sector

In the bustling metropolis of Almaty, things are heating up in the tech world! The city's digital frontier is taking giant strides, thanks to the vision of Mayor Bakytzhan Sagintayev. During his recent live broadcast, he announced the launch of an innovative project – a Unified Communication Space.

This revolutionary platform is set to unite the city's educational institutions, technoparks, accelerators, incubators, and IT companies under one virtual roof. As of now, a whopping 15 IT firms and an impressive crowd of 500 IT enthusiasts have already registered on the platform.

But that's not all! The platform also serves as a digitalization management hub, where citizens can put forward ideas to optimize and digitize Almaty, prompting the administration to take notice of these innovative homegrown projects.

The city's telecommunications landscape is undergoing a significant transformation too. In the past, mobile operators were only building around 55-60 base stations per year. However, in the last 12 months alone, more than 200 mobile connectivity blackspots have been eliminated!

To top it off, a pilot project utilizing fixed wireless access technology is being rolled out in the city. This project ensures residents of new microdistricts enjoy a steady 96 Mbps internet signal!

Now, while the spotlight is on the Unified Communication Space, it's important to note that the city's digital momentum extends beyond this initiative. For instance, a digital platform is being developed to monitor Lake Balkhash's water levels and automate water facilities in the Ili-Balkhash basin – a project that highlights Almaty's focus on sustainable resource management and cross-border technical collaboration.

Moreover, international partnerships are flourishing. Kazakhstan-France cooperation on water infrastructure includes digitalization of hydraulic structures and joint research with institutions like BRGM and OiEau. Meanwhile, IsDB projects aim to modernize water infrastructure across the country, potentially influencing broader digital transformation strategies.

At Almaty Management University (AlmaU), global collaboration is on the rise. Programs like the dual-degree Global Executive MBA and a new Korean Language and Culture Center are fostering a growing emphasis on international tech and business ecosystems.

So, while the Unified Communication Space is a key player in Almaty's digital landscape, these initiatives demonstrate that the city is taking strides in digital infrastructure and cross-border partnerships – advancements that could indirectly benefit the tech sector and foster deeper collaborations. Keep your eyes peeled for more exciting developments in Almaty's digital terrain!
