Updated Details Surface in Cascade AI Image Arrest Incidents

In a recent development, charges have been filed against three Cascade High School students for the alleged misuse of AI-generated images. The Dubuque County Attorney's Office and Dubuque County Sheriff's Department are actively investigating the case, working with partners to address the matter. However, due to the confidential nature of juvenile cases, they cannot comment further on the details of the investigation.

The district, in cooperation with the law enforcement investigation, has prioritized the safety and wellbeing of every student. As a result, students charged as creators or distributors of such materials will not be allowed to attend school in person at Cascade Junior/Senior High School.

Additional charges are expected against a fourth juvenile. To ensure the incident does not recur, the district is reviewing its policies and supports to ensure schools remain safe and respectful environments for all students.

In an effort to educate students and parents about internet dangers and how to assist law enforcement, presentations are being made in Dubuque County schools. Precautionary steps have also been taken to scrub any photos from the internet.

It's important to note that the photos were shared among students, but none were disseminated beyond those circles. The Western Dubuque Community School District has issued a statement, but due to the ongoing investigation and legal obligations, they cannot share further details at this time.

Any questions regarding the investigation should be directed to the County Attorney's Office. The district urges everyone to respect the confidentiality of the process and the individuals involved. As the investigation continues, the community's support and understanding are greatly appreciated.
